Stephanie Batchelor

Director, BioFutures at Schmidt Futures

Stephanie Batchelor is the Director of the BioFutures program, an effort focused on maximizing the potential of biotechnology toward a circular bioeconomy. In this role, Stephanie will lead the scientific and technical aspects of the program and help with overall program design and implementation.

Previously, Stephanie served as Vice President at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) and member of BIO’s Executive Leadership Team. She specialized in providing policy, regulatory, and strategic guidance to the technology companies across BIO’s membership, driving key climate and sustainability initiatives, and leading advocacy efforts that shifted sector paradigms over her thirteen years with the organization.

Stephanie was a founding member of the California Air Resource Board’s low carbon fuel standard advisory panel, Chair and Co-Creator of the Women in Industrial Biotech group, and Consulting Editor for the Industrial Biotech Journal. Prior to joining BIO, Stephanie worked for the European Economic and Social Committee focusing on EU energy and transportation policy. Stephanie holds a Master of Arts in International Relations/Politics from New York University. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and History from the State University of New York at Albany.
