Role Overview

Scout Motors is seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Director of Digital Product Management to lead the development and execution of Scout Motors' digital product strategy. This leader will focus on delivering digital-first products that facilitate the Scout Motors direct-to-consumer (DTC) retail experience and will play a pivotal part in shaping how customers engage with Scout Motors. 

Driven by innovative solutions leveraged by automotive brands—and brands in other industries—to engage with customers and solve problems through websites, mobile apps, and other digital channels, the Scout Motors DTC experience created by the Senior Director of Digital Product Management will deliver simple, efficient, enjoyable, and customer-centric experiences that disrupt and dramatically improve automotive retail orthodoxy. This role will partner tightly with commercial operations to develop processes and workflows that make buying, owning, and servicing Scout vehicles seamless and low friction.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing cross-functional teams, driving alignment across organizational priorities, and delivering digital solutions that create measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Digital Product Strategy
    • Develop and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Scout Motors digital products, with a focus on delivering a best-in-class DTC experience.
    • Drive the digital customer journey, ensuring seamless integration with all of Scout Motors owned and earned channels.
    • Champion innovations in how Scout Motors interacts with customers through engaging and intuitive websites, mobile apps, and digital services.
    • Build sustainable technical and business operations infrastructure underpinning all phases of the customer and vehicle journeys such that customer-facing products and all nodes of the customer experience can shine.
    • Lead the identification of market differentiators, consequential customer needs, and operational accelerators.
  2. Product Development and Delivery
    • Lead the delivery of key digital initiatives, including reservation and ordering platforms, e-commerce experiences, servicing, parts, and customer account management tools.
    • Collaborate with engineering, UX design, and analytics teams to ensure timely delivery of products that meet customer needs and business goals.
  3. Partnership with Commercial Operations
    • Work closely with Commercial Operations to develop processes and workflows that simplify and enhance the customer journey.
    • Ensure a seamless, low-friction experience for customers across critical touchpoints, including vehicle purchase, ownership, and servicing.
  4. Team Leadership and Collaboration
    • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of digital product managers, software engineers, and UX designers.
    • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Logistics, Manufacturing, Vehicle Engineering, and IT to drive cohesive execution of initiatives.
    • Cultivate a diverse, inclusive, and supportive team environment that creates the cultural conditions for excellence and empowers team members with various perspectives to deliver innovative digital solutions.
  5. Customer Engagement and Insights
    • Utilize customer data to identify trends, pain points, and opportunities to improve the digital experience.
    • Develop and implement innovative engagement strategies for hand-raisers, reservation holders, and prospective customers during the pre-production phase all the way through ownership.
  6. Operational Excellence
    • Oversee the development of the digital infrastructure necessary for full-scale product launches, including tools for vehicle logistics, financial services, and account management.
    • Monitor key performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement and scalability of digital platforms.
  7. Stakeholder Management
    • Communicate the value and impact of digital initiatives to executive leadership and the board.
    • Present data-driven insights and recommendations to inform business strategies.
  8. Culture Builder
    • Serve as both an executive beacon for Scout values and a model for junior employees.
    • Act as a pathfinder and collaborator, fostering a culture of speed, agility, innovation, and accountability.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Fremont, CA. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in digital general management or product management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in launching and scaling direct-to-consumer digital platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of CRM systems, e-commerce platforms, and digital marketing tools.
  • Passion for creating best-in-class customer experiences and solving challenging business problems.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing large team of high performance individuals at early project/department/company stage.
  • Experience building and launching 0-to-1 products and scaling them from 1-to-10 in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, prioritize competing demands, and deliver on deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders across engineering, design and product management.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in the automotive industry is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and design thinking practices.
  • Understanding of modern vehicle connectivity concepts, including zonal electrical architecture and vehicle data concepts e.g. diagnostics.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $250,000 - $280,000
