Executive Director Operations at Seplat Energy

Effiong Okon is the current Executive Director of Operations for Seplat Petroleum. Prior to this, they worked for Shell from July 2007 to January 2018, where they held the position of General Manager for Offshore Assets. In this role, they were responsible for managing a budget of USD 450 million for operating expenditures and USD 140 million for capital expenditures in order to deliver 250-300 Kbopd production value from Shell Nigeria's offshore assets. Effiong was also the Shell representative with co-venturers and government bodies such as the DPR, JV partners, security agencies, and interest groups.

In their previous role, Effiong was responsible for the delivery of the current year production plan and Integrated Activity Plan, ensuring effective delivery and coordination with functions for the development and maturation of oil and gas reserves. Effiong was also accountable for preparing, updating, and executing the Asset Reference Plan, as well as asset integrity of production facilities. Furthermore, they managed, planned, and executed the Operate and Maintain Wells and Facilities process for the producing Offshore Assets, including interfaces with other processes.

Effiong provided leadership, vision, and clear goals for the Offshore Asset Teams (comprised of 200 direct and over 400 indirect staff) with respect to HSSE/SP and staff development. Effiong also ensured that the assets had sufficient competent staff to execute business plans and that development plans existed for all staff aimed at continually improving individual competence and overall organizational capability. In addition, they set performance targets and agreed on an annual Scorecard for the Offshore Assets, deployed effective control systems to detect deviations from plan/performance/policies, and developed and implemented corrective action and improvement plans as needed.

Lastly, Effiong maintained contracts and Service Level Agreements required to meet business needs, contributed to the Production Directorate's Leadership Team in developing strategy and direction for the assets, and participated in leadership team activities. Effiong also promoted sharing and learning internally within Shell and across the industry.

Their manager is Ojunekwu Augustine Avuru, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director. They are on a team with Emeka Onwuka - Chief Financial Officer, Roger Thompson Brown - Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director.
