Aykut Firat

Aykut Firat is the current Chief Data Scientist at Simpplr. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Data Scientist and VP of Research and Analytics at Crimson Hexagon from January 2011 to December 2018. In this role, they led a global data science team located in the US and UK to innovate AI-powered products using state of the art deep learning techniques in both NLP and image processing. Aykut also released Brandwatch Search, a patent-pending (Entity Disambiguation) deep learning based search product that enables faster and smarter conceptual searches with petabytes of data.

Firat has significant experience with deep learning (Pytorch, Tensorflow) as well as traditional machine learning techniques, big data (all of Twitter) ingestion, knowledge graphs (Wikidata, etc.), and coding with Java, Python, R. Aykut has also been awarded a patent for Analyzing interests based on social media data (US10673803B2) and has a pending patent for Entity Disambiguation.

Aykut Firat has a Ph.D. in Management Science from MIT Sloan School of Management, an MS in Systems Analysis, Computer Science and Software Engineering from Miami University, and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Boğaziçi University.
