Michael Coates

Michael Coates is currently a member of the Bingham Centre Development Board at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, as well as an Independent Non-Executive Director for Sizewell C Funded Decommissioning Company. Currently, Coates serves on the Energy Law Committee of the City of London Law Society and is a Legal Practice Division Council Member with the International Bar Association. Previously, Coates held significant legal roles, including Head of Legal at Shell in the United Kingdom and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. Coates has also contributed to Queen Mary University of London as a member of the Steering and Curriculum Review Committees for the Energy Law Institute and has been recognized as a Fellow by The Institute of Directors.
