Janice Stagnitto Ellis is an experienced conservator specializing in the treatment of historic paper-based and vellum artifacts. Since October 2009, Janice has served as the Senior Paper Conservator at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History, overseeing the Paper Conservation Laboratory. Additionally, Janice owns Ellis Conservation of Books & Paper LLC, providing full-service conservation treatments. Prior to these roles, Janice founded Quarto Conservation of Books & Paper, Inc. and worked as a Senior Conservator at Smithsonian Institution Libraries, leading a team on significant projects, including the conservation of the Jefferson Bible. Educational background includes an MS in Conservation of Books, Paper and Archives from Columbia University and a B.S. in Business Administration and Art History from Rutgers University.
