Ashanti Blaize-Hopkins

Ashanti Blaize-Hopkins has a diverse work experience in the field of journalism. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President at the Society of Professional Journalists. Ashanti also served as a Tenured Professor of Journalism at Santa Monica College, where they developed course curriculum, advised the student-run newspaper, and contributed to the marketing committee. In addition, they were the President of the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of Society of Professional Journalists and an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Southern California and UCLA Extension. Earlier in their career, they worked as the Assistant Director of Student Media at Loyola Marymount University, Co-Founder/Principal/VP of Video Production at Get Media PR, and a Media Relations Consultant at The Harrell Group. Ashanti also had teaching roles as an Adjunct Professor at Richland College and worked as an Anchor/Reporter at NBC 5.

Ashanti Blaize-Hopkins earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Columbia University, where they studied from 1998 to 2002. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Journalism at the University of Miami, completing their program in 2003.
