Jaime Sossa, P.Eng, M.A.Sc.

Jaime Sossa, P.Eng, M.A.Sc, has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering. Their most recent position was as a Lead Project/Process Engineer at Solaris MCI where they supported clients and project development activities to establish energy transition and emission reduction strategies. Jaime also acted as a subject matter expert on hydrogen and decarbonization strategies. Prior to this, they worked as a Lead Process Engineer at Solaris MCI and was responsible for coordinating client and project needs.

Before joining Solaris MCI, Jaime worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of British Columbia where they studied flow structures and active mixing zones of non-Newtonian fluids. Jaime also developed a computational model of mechanically stirred tanks and performed rheological characterizations of non-Newtonian fluids.

Jaime's previous experiences include working as a Chemical Engineer Consultant at Ecopetrol where they developed a computational tool to predict energy consumption and optimize energy generation in the ECOPETROL Refinery. Jaime also worked as a Project Engineer at Process Modeling Inc., where they conducted engineering design to improve safety and reduce the environmental impact of a water injection plant.

Additionally, Jaime worked as a Facilities Engineer at Chevron Petroleum Company, where they implemented optimization processes in offshore and onshore fields. Jaime also provided technical support for the evaluation and adaptation of surface facilities to increase natural gas production. Prior to that, they worked as a Facilities Engineer at Ecopetrol, assessing upstream facilities for water injection and oil and gas production.

Earlier in their career, Jaime worked as a Process Engineer at Petrosantander (Colombia) Inc., where they developed a computational model of a gas processing plant and coordinated operating conditions to optimize production.

Jaime Sossa obtained their B.Sc in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Industrial de Santander from the year 2000 to 2007. Jaime further pursued their education and completed their M.A.Sc in Chemical & Biological Engineering from The University of British Columbia between 2010 and 2012.
