Bonnie Carter

Trustee at Spelman College

Carter spent several years as a management consultant specializing in supply chain management, strategic sourcing and business process re-engineering primarily in the pharmaceutical industry. When she had three children ages 5 and under, she stepped away from corporate America, spent much more time pursuing her passion and became a fierce and dedicated advocate for society’s most vulnerable citizens – underserved and underprivileged children.

She served as president of the Junior League of Montclair-Newark (JLMN) Inc. and spent a decade on the Board of Trustees for CASA (County Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Essex County where she served as chairman for four of those years

Carter is a member of the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College; the North Jersey Chapter of The Links Incorporated, IMPACT100 Essex County, and the Leadership Council of IFEL (Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership). She is an active parent volunteer at the Montclair Kimberley Academy where she is a recently appointed Affiliate to the Board of Trustees.

Over the years, Carter has received many community service honors and awards including the JLMN Volunteer of the Year and President’s Award; the Red Cross Service Award; the Greater Essex Chapter of Jack and Jill of America Inc and the NJ Labor Advisory Board to the UNCF community service awards.
