Hailun Tan has diverse work experience in various roles. They are currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Squiz, starting in July 2022. Prior to this, from 2018 to 2022, they worked at NOJA Power as a Research and Development Developer, focusing on designing the Cyber-Security Module for Relay-20 units. From 2017 to 2018, Hailun Tan was a Lecturer at UNSW, responsible for the computer science course COMP1400. In 2016 and 2017, they served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at UNSW Australia, managing the LoRa module for smart emergency lights. Before that, from 2013 to 2016, they worked as a Technical Specialist at the Australian Taxation Office, contributing to ATOOnline and Portal application development. In 2012, Hailun Tan worked as a Software Engineer at WORKxPACE, developing Bluetooth applications. From 2006 to 2011, they held a position as a Research Associate at UNSW, primarily focused on the Smart Transportation and Road (STaR) research project. Lastly, in 2004 and 2005, they worked as a Software Developer at CSIRO's Data61, developing the HVAC system and temperature prediction model.
Hailun Tan's education history began with exchange studies at the State University of New York from 2000 to 2001, where they focused on Computer Science. They then pursued a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Telecommunications Engineering at The Australian National University from 2003 to 2004. Following that, they obtained a Master of Information Technology in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications from The Australian National University from 2004 to 2005. Finally, Hailun Tan completed a PhD in Computer Science with a specialization in sensor network security at UNSW from 2006 to 2010.
