Balaji Prabhakar is a seasoned professional in the technology and academic sectors, currently serving as the Co-Founder and CEO of Clockwork Systems, Inc. since October 2021, focusing on time-sensitive software solutions for cloud computing infrastructure. In addition to industry leadership, Balaji holds the position of VMware Founders Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University since 1998. Previously, Balaji co-founded and acted as Chief Scientist at Urban Engines, which was acquired by Google Maps in 2016. From 2005 to 2007, Balaji was a Fellow and Switch Architect at Nuova Systems, contributing to the design of algorithms for Cisco’s Nexus-5000 switch and leading efforts on the standardization of quantized congestion notification as part of the IEEE 802. Balaji holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from UCLA and a Bachelor of Engineering in the same field from the College of Engineering, Guindy.
