Karla Tomlin

Health & Safety Specialist at Stanford University

Karla is a member of Facilities and Capital Planning. As a health and safety specialist, she is responsible for emergency planning and preparedness, security, and health and safety for the School of Humanities and Sciences. She works with H&S directors to ensure the school is prepared for both small- and large-scale incidents, while simultaneously making certain a culture of safety is maintained at all times.

After beginning her career with the Department of Environmental Health and Safety, Karla left Stanford after 10 years to pursue her master's degree in environmental policy and management. She returned to the School of Medicine in 2013 as a health and safety specialist, representing laboratory safety and compliance needs. She then joined H&S in 2016, continuing in her role as a health and safety specialist.

During her personal time, Karla enjoys reading, exploring her creative side through photography, and spending quality time with her family.
