Lisa Rying

Senior Associate Director, Development for Natural Sciences at Stanford University

Lisa is the senior associate director of development for the External Relations team, focusing on priorities in the natural sciences. She has been in the Stanford development office since 2009, having worked on the Graduate School of Education, Stanford Fund, and Medical Center development teams.

As a first-generation American, Lisa grew up thinking she would become a teacher, so she went to Duke for a bachelor's degree (Class of 2002) and came to Stanford for her master's degree (2003), both in English. She taught high-school English and worked in a small nonprofit for children with learning differences before coming back to the Farm.

When she is not at Stanford, Lisa likes to hike, travel, attend Stanford football games, and spend time with her family. She likes to think she can keep up with her young son.
