Scott Gillespie

Editor, Editorial Pages at Star Tribune Media Company

Scott Gillespie is Star Tribune’s editor for the editorial pages, overseeing the daily editorial and op-ed pages, as well as the Sunday Opinion Exchange section and digital content at StarTribune.com/opinion. He has more than 30 years of reporting and editing experience at newspapers in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Previously, Gillespie was managing editor for news at Star Tribune, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the newsroom. He oversaw award-winning coverage of stories ranging from the death of Paul Wellstone to the war in Iraq and the Interstate 35W bridge collapse

Gillespie, who began his journalism career as a reporter at the Milwaukee Sentinel, joined Star Tribune as an assistant business editor in 1991, later serving as assistant managing editor for business news and assistant managing editor for local news

Gillespie has served as a Pulitzer Prize juror and was the nominating editor for editorial cartoonist Steve Sack’s winning Pulitzer entry in 2013. Gillespie earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
