Lauren Maffeo

Lauren Maffeo is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in AI/ML program management, service design, and education. Currently serving as a Senior AI/ML Program Manager for the State of Maryland, Lauren is responsible for overseeing AI projects to ensure adherence to ethical standards and agency needs. Previous roles include Assistant Director of Product at Steampunk, Inc., where Lauren managed a team of engineers and designers, and Senior Service Designer, crafting product roadmaps for successful project delivery. Lauren also contributes as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at The George Washington University, teaching courses on UX/UI and Design Futures. Additionally, Lauren’s expertise extends to editorial work at Cambridge University Press and fellowship with the RSA, which recognizes contributions to social change. Education includes a certificate in Artificial Intelligence from MIT Sloan School of Management and an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
