Javier L. Evans

Javier L. Evans was named Chief Human Resources Officer for Sterling National Bank in October 2017. Prior to Sterling, Mr. Evans was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Astoria Bank until Astoria’s merger with Sterling. In his current role, Javier is responsible for directing the development and execution of human capital strategies in support of the company's strategic direction, with a strong focus on talent & leadership management, succession planning, as well as staff and organizational development. Prior to joining Astoria Bank, Javier worked for TD Bank & TD Securities where he was responsible for providing a full range of Human Resources. Javier is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, National Association for African Americans in Human Resources, National Black MBA and President & Board member of Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. He is a Trustee of Education Africa Inc. and recently joined the Board of UCP, Suffolk.
