Greg Harden

Greg Harden is a Principal with The Chartis Group in the firm’s Strategy Practice. Mr. Harden has more than 25 years of healthcare experience working throughout diverse segments of the industry, including health systems, hospitals, physician groups, clinical care networks, and post-acute care. His area of expertise includes the alignment of finance and strategy to accomplish organizational goals and achieve optimal financial performance.

Mr. Harden’s recent responsibilities include the financial and strategic analysis of health system mergers, hospital acquisitions/divestitures, physician acquisitions/employment, for-profit partnerships, ambulatory joint ventures, and strategic pricing. Additionally, he gives guidance to operating entities in the development of detailed short and long-range strategic plans aligned with system goals and financial imperatives. Mr. Harden also provides strategic and financial insight regarding performance improvement, healthcare innovation initiatives, population health models, community health plans, and digital health strategies.

Prior to joining The Chartis Group, Mr. Harden was Senior Vice President of Finance Operations for Advocate Aurora Health, a multi-state $13 billion dollar health system with locations across Illinois and Wisconsin. In this role, Mr. Harden directed Illinois finance operations, including both acute and ambulatory performance, and was responsible for system-wide initiatives such as capital planning, population health, post-acute, financial planning and analysis, financial decision support, and cost management.

Mr. Harden has more than seven years of healthcare management consulting experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, and two boutique consulting firms where he focused on strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, and financial performance improvement.

Mr. Harden is a member of the First Illinois Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, teaching “Introduction to Healthcare Finance.” Additionally, he is active in his community as past Finance Chair for his local church and he serves on multiple committees at Taylor University in Indiana.

Mr. Harden earned his Master of Health Administration, Master of Business Administration, and Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Iowa.
