Paul Dean has a diverse work experience that spans several healthcare organizations and roles. Paul currently serves as the Chair of the Standards and Guidelines Committee at the Intensive Care Society since December 2018. Prior to that, they held the position of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire starting from September 2017. Paul is also a member of the Q community at The Health Foundation since December 2016. Additionally, they have been the Medical Lead at the Lancashire and South Cumbria Critical Care Network since April 2016. At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, Paul has held multiple roles, including Co-Chair of the Faculty for the deteriorating patient, Clinical Lead for Sepsis, Consultant Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine, and Clinical Director of the Trauma Unit. Paul has also been involved with the North East Faculty for Pre Hospital Emergency Medicine as a member and has worked as an Aircrew Doctor at the Great North Air Ambulance.
Paul Dean completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Medical Physics at the University of Leeds in 1997. Paul then pursued their MB ChB degree in Medicine at the same university, which was completed in 1999. In 2014 to 2015, they attended Lancaster University and obtained a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Innovation and Improvement Science.
