Julie has a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience in the pre and post 16 education sector, including over 20 years as a high performing teacher, trainer and assessor. Julie completed a total of 16 years with Ofsted (formally the Adult Learning Inspectorate) as an Ofsted Inspector and HMI and was also instrumental as a mentor for new inspectors. Prior to joining the inspectorate Julie had a key role with an awarding body as an External and Lead Regional Standards Verifier with additional responsibility for Compliance within approved centres. After leaving Ofsted as an HMI and moving back to part time inspection Julie continued in a quality improvement role working with providers and colleges pre and post inspection helping them to use quality improvement planning effectively and improving outcomes and learner experience. Julie has held senior positions in the FE sector and throughout her career has owned three successful private businesses in her home town. She has led inspections of local authority providers, independent providers, employer providers, children’s centres and prisons. She specialises in advising on quality improvement and self-assessment/evaluation. Julie supports education providers to carry out accurate self-evaluation and improvement planning in preparation for Ofsted inspections and monitoring visits. Julie is actively involved in Governance in the pre and post 16 sector and provides guidance and advice to boards on effective practice.
