As CRO of The Trade Desk, Carson drives the company’s global revenue generation and new client acquisition strategy and operations. He is responsible for scaling The Trade Desk’s business development organization around the world to continue the company’s rapid growth. Carson brings more than 20 years’ experience in the digital media industry, with executive leadership roles in fast-growth environments both in the U.S. and globally. Before joining The Trade Desk, Carson served as the Chief Revenue Officer of Vevo, a premium global music video and entertainment platform. In this role, he oversaw Vevo’s global sales and marketing functions. Prior to that, Carson spent six years with The Nielsen Company where he helped spearhead the company’s digital transformation. As CEO, Digital, Carson led Nielsen’s digital and mobile strategy and operations across more than 70 countries. An accomplished entrepreneur, Carson was previously co-founder and CEO of social media intelligence company, BuzzMetrics, which he sold to Nielsen in 2007. While at BuzzMetrics, Carson helped establish the concept of social media with marketers, including co-founding the Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA), which is now part of the Association of National Advertisers (ANA). Carson has also served as an active startup advisor and investor, including as Chairman of Superdata (acquired by Nielsen) and Snaps, and a long-time advisor to millennial news company, Mic, where he also served in an operational capacity as President. His advisory and investment portfolio has also included digital media companies Zefr, Tubular, Flashstock (acquired by Shutterstock), and Pro Football Focus. A recognized digital media expert, Carson is a frequent speaker at industry events, including Mobile World Congress, Cannes, CES, and others. He regularly appears in national media, including CNN, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, CBS, NPR and Wired, to name a few. Carson received a B.S. in Business from Georgetown University.
