Stephen Pont

Stephen Pont, MD, MPH is a distinguished medical professional with extensive experience in public health and pediatrics. Currently serving as the Medical Director for the Center for Public Health Policy and Practice and Acting State Epidemiologist at the Texas Department of State Health Services, Stephen also volunteers as a pediatrician at the People's Community Clinic's Growing Healthy Clinic. As an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Dell Medical School, Stephen has significantly contributed to multiple academic programs, including those at the College of Communication and the College of Natural Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin. Stephen's previous roles include clinical leadership positions in various healthcare organizations, focusing on child health and obesity prevention, along with a commitment to serving underserved populations. Stephen holds an MD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and an MPH from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, complemented by a BA in Biology with a concentration in Spanish.
