Sayan Mukherjee currently serves as a Project Assistant Professor and Visiting Joint Researcher at The University of Tokyo, a position held since August 2022. Prior experience includes a researcher role at blueqat from June 2021 to January 2024 and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Illinois at Chicago between August 2016 and June 2021, where responsibilities encompassed leading discussion sessions, office hours, and grading for undergraduate students. Sayan has also worked as a Quantum Software Engineer at Elyah in the summer of 2020 and completed a research internship at the Indian Statistical Institute, focusing on Stochastic Simulation Algorithms in 2016. A brief summer research stint at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research involved work on Graph Theory. Sayan Mukherjee earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Discrete Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, along with a Bachelor in Mathematics from the Indian Statistical Institute in Bangalore. Early education includes Higher Secondary from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Secondary education at Hare School in Kolkata.
