Meet The Org’s Newest Senior Reporter, Eliza Haverstock!, The Org

Please join us in welcoming our brand new journalist, Eliza Haverstock. She is the latest addition to The Org’s content team, where she contributes as a Senior Reporter covering the data and trends powering the future of work and the startup and tech communities for Iterate, The Org’s content platform.

Prior to joining our team, Eliza worked at Forbes. First, she was an assistant editor on the money & investing team and then was a wealth reporter covering the world’s billionaires and calculating their net worths. Before that, she covered venture capital and private equity for PitchBook Data, and also interned as a reporter for Bloomberg.

“Transparency is key at The Org, and it’s also a core principle of journalism,” Eliza said. “I’m excited to help build the Iterate platform alongside a talented team of journalists, and to advance The Org’s mission to promote more open and transparent workplaces.”

Originally from Northern Virginia, Eliza now resides in Brooklyn, New York. Be sure to look out for her the next time you’re roaming around the city because when Eliza’s not working, she tries to get outdoors as much as possible. “I love being outside—hiking, walking, running, rollerblading,” Eliza continued. “I also travel whenever I can, and I’m currently attempting to master the art of French cooking!”

Welcome to the team Eliza! We can’t wait to read all of your insightful stories 🤩

Luke Sandmann Joins The Org as its Monetization Focused Research Analyst

Luke Sandmann Joins The Org as its Monetization Focused Research Analyst

Luke Sandmann is the most recent addition to The Org’s research department, which he joined in April 2022 as a Research Analyst, Monetization. In this role, Luke is responsible for increasing the value of The Org’s data, building and maintaining company org charts, providing the data required to deliver The Org’s monetized products and augmenting metadata that exists on The Org’s platform. “What excites me most about The Org’s mission for transparency is increased accountability. When this vision comes to fruition, organizations and the individuals that comprise them can be held responsible for the services and disservices they impose on broader society,” Luke said. “Overall, The Org serves a very healthy purpose for the corporate ecosystem and I’m thankful to have the opportunity to make a tangible impact in this respect.” In addition to all that Luke contributes to The Org as a research analyst, he has also balanced his work with his studies. A full-time student during his initial time with The Org, Luke graduated in June 2022 from Union College in Schenectady, NY, where he studied philosophy with a concentration in logic and ethics and a minor in environmental policy. Upon graduation, Luke joined The Org full time. Besides looking forward to moving to New York City, another big reason that Luke is excited about working at The Org is its values and company culture. “Our value ‘be a contrarian’ really resonates with me. I find that my first idea is seldom my best idea and while it isn’t necessarily wrong, I am often aware that it isn’t optimal. I believe I am best suited to success in environments where an idea is a collaborative experience. A new perspective challenges me to look at things in a new light and reach for the stones I didn’t turn the first time around,” Luke said. “There is a particular intentionality in maintaining the values at The Org and I’m very excited to be a part of this culture.” Outside of work, Luke is passionate about many things. First and foremost, he is an avid fan of breakfast foods – which he attributes to his time working at a mom-and-pop-style diner throughout high school. Additionally, Luke is passionate about music and reading, with Sticky Fingers and The Shins among his current favorite artists, and Malcolm Gladwell as his favorite author. Lastly, he enjoys staying active and being outdoors with activities such as backpacking and canoe camping, playing tennis and basketball, “despite not being particularly good at either,” and skiing, which he began practicing at only five years old. “One important lesson I’ve learned from skiing is to enjoy the process. Skiing can be a discouraging sport for many because you can train hard every day for a month only to wipe out after the third gate come race day,” Luke said. “However, if you can’t find fulfillment in the month leading up to race day, you’re bound to be miserable as a ski racer. I’ve tried to make this outlook a constant in other aspects of my life.”

New Feature Alert: Easily Explore Top Companies on The Org

New Feature Alert: Easily Explore Top Companies on The Org

Ever since its founding, The Org was designed to be a place where you could find the people who matter behind the world’s top companies. Today, with the launch of Explore, we have taken a big step to make it easier to find people and teams faster and more efficiently. Explore is a new page that you can find in our header and footer. This page enables you to see curated and automated lists of companies on The Org that deserve your attention. And not only that, you can find jobs through these lists (and get your jobs discovered by job seekers!), as well as discover new companies in an industry, location, or trend that you also should know about. With 200,000 companies now on The Org, our directory of the world’s top companies is the same as before. You can search and filter to go deeper by industry or location, and now with Explore you can get curated companies surfaced that visitors might not have known about or noticed before, for a variety of reasons. Some of these lists are created by us, our content team over at Iterate, and some lists (and many more to come) are automated by trending, newly verified, and more. Clicking into individual lists in the new Explore experience, you’ll find something else new. Each list has company-level toggles that enable you to open up and give you a quick overview of that company’s basic information as well as an embedded org chart you can explore without leaving the list view. Quick information is useful - location, industry, company size, as well as a dynamic listing of that company’s open jobs. So if you’re looking for work, you can quickly see companies hiring in a list of an industry or location you’re interested in. If you’re looking for talent, by keeping your organization up to date on The Org, you can ensure that when you are on a list, candidates are seeing all current openings at a glance. We believe at The Org that our Explore feature is unlike anything else out there. With frequent new additions and updates to existing top lists, our editorial team is constantly producing fresh content on emerging startup trends that’s worth checking back on every day. Our automated tools also generate lists of startups with most recent fundraising, who joined our Verified community, and more. Not only that, but our lists, which connect directly to jobs and org charts, can also empower both sides of the talent equation in tech and high growth startups to help find not just a paycheck, or a new position in an org chart, but a real fit: culturally and professionally. Getting a transparent view on a company is the first step to creating better talent matches with much more to come! What kind of lists are live right now?
