As a Machine Learning Engineer, he will take predictive models out of the lab and into production. He will be responsible for exploring and determining the kinds of data The Org needs to track in order to help produce better recommendations to users on related companies, jobs, and positions. He will initially be spending time doing backend software engineering work in Scala to familiarize himself with the backend.
Thor is excited to take ownership of his work and have an impact. He is also energized by The Org’s mission to make organizations more transparent, “which I find to be a worthy and noble cause,” he stated.
Thor is a recent graduate of the IT University of Copenhagen where he earned a Master’s in Computer Science and specialized in machine learning. During his studies, he explored courses in Statistics, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence at UC Berkeley. Currently, he has one more course to complete to finish up a double degree in Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen.
Before The Org, Thor worked as a Teaching Assistant in more than 20 Computer Science courses at his university. While in school, he also published a paper at EvoStar, the leading European event on bio-inspired computation. This paper revolved around how to use evolution to do planning on a “world model” and involved making a car complete a simulated race track as fast as possible by doing planning (“thinking”) through evolutionary principles.
Thor said he is “a deep thinker who now wants to put his deep knowledge into practice, which is why he thinks the pragmatic culture at The Org will challenge him while he puts models into production at The Org to do better recommendations.”
Outside of work and machine learning, Thor enjoys reading books, going to the gym, and dancing salsa. He is also a keen traveler and always enjoys drinking a great cup of coffee in good company.
