Shao Min Tan

Shao Min Tan is a Senior Applied Scientist specializing in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing at Thomson Reuters since January 2024. Previously, from July 2018 to December 2023, Shao Min Tan served as a Senior Machine Learning and NLP Engineer at Iprova, focusing on developing machine learning systems for patentable inventions and designing novel NLP algorithms. Shao Min Tan also has experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at Cornell University, where extensive work on data from CERN included optimizing kinematic fitting methods and performing multivariate analysis. Additionally, teaching roles at Cornell University and Carleton College involved lecturing, tutoring, and providing feedback in physics courses. Shao Min Tan holds a PhD in Physics from Cornell University and has been involved with CERN as an Associated Member of the Personnel in the CMS Experiment.
