Gus Okwu

Gus Okwu is a Managing Director in New York advising clients on a wide range of special situations including IPOs, SPACs, direct listings, M&A, investor and employee activism, restructurings, leadership transitions, and ESG/sustainability disclosure processes. Gus has more than 20 years of capital markets experience including financial communications and investor relations, corporate banking, and equity and debt research. He has helped clients with reputational, growth, and transformational challenges, serving as a trusted partner to executive leadership, communications teams, and boards of directors for global companies of all sizes.

Prior to joining TrailRunner, Gus was EVP and Financial Communications Practice Lead at BCW counseling clients on a wide range of transformational events including IPOs, restructurings, investor and employee activism, and ESG-related issues. Before joining BCW, he was the Founder and Principal of AMYB Consulting Partners, a boutique strategic communications consultancy to emerging growth companies and established brands. His experience also includes roles as a Senior Vice President & Partner at FleishmanHillard, where he managed the New York office’s financial communications and IR efforts, and at Allison+Partners, where he led the financial communications/IR practice.

Previously, Gus was Senior Vice President and Director of Equity Research at Wachovia Securities, where he was recognized by Institutional Investor magazine as a “Top Up-and-Comer” equity analyst in their annual All America Research Team survey.

Gus earned a Bachelor of Arts in international relations from Tufts University.
