Alasdair Cain

Alasdair Cain is an experienced transportation professional currently serving as the Director of Research, Development and Technology Coordination at the US Department of Transportation since June 2010, where Alasdair leads oversight of a $1.5 billion research portfolio. Prior roles include Transportation Specialist at USDOT and Senior Research Associate at the Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida, focusing on public transit and bus rapid transit research, as well as serving as an adjunct professor. Earlier, Alasdair worked as a Research Fellow in urban road and congestion pricing at the University of Westminster, and as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Urban Transportation Research. Alasdair began the career as an Assistant Engineer at Jacobs Babtie, engaging in traffic and environmental impact assessments. Academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Glasgow.
