Benqing Shen has a diverse work experience in various fields. From 2012 to 2015, they worked as a Quantitative Analyst at Milliman, where they conducted research and produced the Milliman Guarantee Index, focusing on valuation and risk management of variable annuity guarantees. Benqing also worked in the Portfolio Management Team, providing the Milliman Protection Strategy to advised funds.
From 2015 to 2022, Benqing worked at EY as a Quantitative Advisory, leading fair lending analytics engagements for large US banks, non-bank mortgage companies, servicers, and GSEs. Benqing advised clients on analyzing HMDA data with private banking information to assess fair lending risks and regulatory compliance.
In 2021 and 2022, Benqing worked at FiveThirtyEight, developing proprietary algorithms to beat their NFL forecasts for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Benqing'salgorithm ranked 154th out of 9781 globally in 2021 and 46th globally in 2022.
Benqing also gained experience at Trepp, Inc. where they worked as the Director of Product Management. Benqing contributed to product management in the commercial real estate data consortium, focusing on market sourced data.

Benqing Shen, CFA, FRM completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 2007 to 2011. From 2011 to 2012, they obtained a Master of Science degree in Financial Mathematics from the University of Chicago. Benqing Shen also holds various additional certifications, including a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute and a Financial Risk Manager (FRM®) designation from the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
