Wendy McSweeney

EVP, ESG Impact Advisor - Commercial Community Bank at Truist

Wendy McSweeney is currently the EVP, ESG Impact Advisor - Commercial Community Bank at Truist. Prior to this, they were the Chief Inclusion Officer at SunTrust from December 2013 to December 2019. In this role, they were responsible for leading the development and execution of short and long-term plans to achieve business/segment D&I goals, creating programs and initiatives to drive the engagement and retention of women and people of color, partnering with Corporate Communications to create a plan to build awareness and visibility of D&I progress and programs, developing and maintaining diversity metrics and scorecard to measure the success of D&I initiatives, and collaborating closely with Human Resources Business Partners, Recruiters, Corporate Communications and other internal stakeholders to successfully implement D&I plans.

Wendy has been a driving force in the area of diversity and inclusion in their previous role at SunTrust and their current role at Truist. Wendy is passionate about building an inclusive environment where everyone can feel valued and supported. Under their leadership, Truist has made great strides in promoting diversity and inclusion within the company and in the community.

Wendy McSweeney has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Virginia Union University and a Master of Business Administration from University of Phoenix. Wendy is certified by the National Diversity Council as a Certified Diversity Professional and by the St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative as a St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative Fellow’s Leadership Program.

Wendy McSweeney reports to Kimberly Moore-Wright, Chief Teammate Officer & Head of Enterprise Diversity. They work with and Dominica Groom Williams - Head of DEI.
