Mike Durkin

Mike Durkin is an accomplished technology executive with extensive experience in laser technology and research and development. Currently, Mike serves as the Chief Technology Officer and Head of R&D at TRUMPF, a position held since December 2020. Prior to this role, Mike spent two decades at SPI Lasers, progressing through various leadership positions, including Head of Technology and Engineering Director, where responsibilities encompassed defining and executing roadmaps for fibre laser technology and leading cross-functional teams in the development and manufacturing of innovative laser products. Mike holds a PhD in Fibre Optic Devices for Telecommunications and a Master’s Degree in Physics with Laser Science, both from the University of Southampton.
