Brian A. King

Director, Center for Tobacco Products at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Brian A. King is the current Director of the Center for Tobacco Products at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Brian has held this position since July of 2010. Prior to their current role, Brian served as the Deputy Director for Research Translation in the Office on Smoking and Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2007-2010. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of research translation strategies that promote the use of CDC smoking and health research by policy makers, healthcare providers, and the public.

Before their time at the CDC, Brian was a Pre-doctoral Fellow in Cancer Epidemiology at the University at Buffalo from 2009-2010. In this role, they conducted research on the etiology and prevention of cancer with a focus on tobacco-related cancers. Brian’s work has been instrumental in helping to create policies that have reduced tobacco use and improved public health.

Dr. Brian A. King received their PhD in Epidemiology from the University at Buffalo. Brian also has a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University at Buffalo, as well as a B.S. in Biological Sciences with a focus in Molecular Biology from the University at Buffalo.

Brian A. King works with Radm Richardae Araojo - Associate Commissioner for Minority Health, Steven M. Solomon - Director, Center for Veterinary Medicine, and Constance B. Tobias - Chair, Departmental Appeals Board. Brian A. King reports to Xavier Becerra, Secretary.
