Mattia Polvanesi

Mattia Polvanesi currently serves as a Senior Social Protection Officer (P4) with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, since February 2022. Previously, Mattia held several key positions at the World Food Programme, including Head of Unit for Social Safety Nets and Livelihood and Social Protection Officer from August 2017 to February 2022. Earlier experience includes a role as Programme Support Officer at UNRWA, focusing on Relief and Social Services, and as a Policy and Advocacy Officer at Saferworld. Mattia also worked as a freelance consultant and program/project manager, providing expertise as an EU External Policies Advisor, and held a position with the European External Action Service as a Junior Professional. In terms of education, Mattia earned a Master's degree in International Relations and European Studies from Università degli Studi di Firenze and a Master's degree in Development Economics and International Development from the Italian Society for International Organization, in addition to a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Affairs from Università degli Studi di Firenze and a study abroad experience at Sciences Po under the ERASMUS Socrates Programme.
