Dr. Luc El-Art Severe serves as the Vice President of Small Business and Workforce Development at the United Way of New York City, focusing on economic recovery for Black communities post-pandemic. In addition, Dr. Severe is an Assistant Professor at Northern Virginia Community College, specializing in innovative instructional methods for Administration of Justice students. Previous roles include Vice President at Empire State Development, where Dr. Severe led Minority & Women-Owned Business Development initiatives, and various leadership positions within NYC Health + Hospitals, including Director of Labor Relations and Office of Performance Management. Dr. Severe's legal background includes consulting for the New York State Supreme Court and Synergy Legal Inc. Dr. Severe holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Studies from Morehouse College, a Political Science Mass Media Certificate from Brown University, a Juris Doctor from Cooley Law School, and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity in Religion and the Black Experience at Columbia University.
