James Bacchus

Distinguished University Professor Of Global Affairs

James Bacchus serves as the Distinguished University Professor of Global Affairs at the University of Central Florida, where emphasis is placed on international law, international political economy, climate change, and sustainable development. Bacchus founded and directs the UCF Center for Global Economic and Environmental Opportunity. Prior to this role, Bacchus chaired the global practice at Greenberg Traurig, LLP, focusing on international business, trade, investment, and finance. Bacchus's notable experience includes serving as Chairman of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization, where responsibilities included being one of seven founding judges and twice assuming the role of chief judge. Additionally, Bacchus was elected as a member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Florida. Bacchus holds a Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law, a Master of Arts in History from Yale University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Vanderbilt University.
