CFO, Executive Vice Chancellor for Finance at The University of Kansas

Jeff DeWitt is currently the CFO and Executive Vice Chancellor for Finance at the University of Kansas. Prior to their current position, DeWitt served as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Phoenix from January 1989 to December 2013. In their role as CFO, DeWitt was responsible for financial accounting and reporting, debt and investments, financial planning (revenue and expense forecasting), utility rates, real estate, risk management, AR, AP, payroll, sales taxes, enterprise resource planning, and citywide procurements. In addition to their financial responsibilities, DeWitt also served on various boards and committees, including the City of Phoenix Employee Retirement System (COPERS) Board, Downtown Hotel Corporation Board, Phoenix Community Development Investment Corporation Board (new market tax credits), Long Term Disability and Self Insurance Trust Board, and executive sponsor for the Phoenix Industrial Development Authority (PIDA).

DeWitt began their career in Phoenix as an entry level research and rate analyst and progressed through the organization, gaining experience in all areas of public finance. Jeff was instrumental in the development of the downtown Arizona State University (ASU) campus, which included land and building acquisition, financing, and development of agreements between the Phoenix and ASU. Jeff also played a similar role in the development of the Phoenix biomedical campus and the key downtown development project "Cityscape".

Jeff DeWitt is a highly experienced public finance professional with a proven track record of success in both financial management and economic development. Jeff is currently using their skills and experience to lead the University of Kansas towards a bright future.

Jeff DeWitt earned their master's degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and their bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University.

Jeff DeWitt reports to Douglas A. Girod, Chancellor. They are on a team with Brian A. White - General Counsel & Vice Chancellor, Legal Affairs, Barbara A. Bichelmeyer - Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor, and Robert Simari - Executive Vice Chancellor, Medical Center.
