Paul Axup

Paul Axup is the current VP, Administration & Finance & COO at University of Melbourne. Prior to their current role, they were with Programmed from May 2020 to April 2022 and held the title of Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

In their role at Programmed, Paul was responsible for a broad range of functions including Finance, M&A, Business Transformation, Procurement, Property, Workers Compensation and Executive Sponsor of a fully integrated IT solution implementation across the diversified business. Paul was also a Company Director and Public Officer across all group entities and member of the Group Risk Committee.

During their time at Programmed, Paul was able to achieve 25% average YoY growth vs pre COVID levels through partnering with the MD and divisional CEOs. Paul also successfully led 3 strategic M&A transactions. In addition, Paul drove significant improvement in the 'full stack' ERP implementation, including resolution of legacy issues. This led to significant enhancements in business performance reporting and development of reporting strategy. Furthermore, they led Intelligent Automation initiatives, introduction and implementations, that delivered significant support function savings and provide a scalable platform to further improve % returns through continued growth. Lastly, Paul developed and implemented Property and Procurement strategies to improve business outcomes and delivered material YoY savings for the business.

Paul Axup's educational career began with him obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) from Monash University. Paul then furthered their education by becoming a Chartered Accountant through Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. Finally, they completed a management program at INSEAD.
