Akash Patel

Akash Patel is a software engineer who currently works at the University of Southern California. Akash has previously worked as an intern at Convrrt and Hulu. At Convrrt, they worked on many features for the landing page grid builder application. Akash also designed and implemented many storybook components like the admin dashboard, pop-up notification using VueJs, and typescript. At Hulu, they designed an Apache Flink application as a POC to ingest raw user data from a production Kafka topic to a Hive table in the streaming manner by directly writing data into HDFS files and periodically registering partitions to Hive metastore. Akash also compared the performance between the existing Spark production module and Flink application using different performance parameters like latency (100000% improvement), throughput (200% improvement) in a controlled environment. Akash also developed a Flink module to ingest data from a production Kafka topic to another Kafka topic to replace the existing production Spark module.

Akash Patel has a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Surat.
