Helen Milford

Helen Milford is currently a Governor at the University of Sunderland since May 2025, serving on the Audit and Risk Committee as well as the People and Remuneration Committee. In addition, Helen holds the position of Non Executive Director at Hays Travel since January 2024, where responsibilities include chairing the Risk Committee and supporting the board's strategic vision. Helen’s previous experience includes a role as Non Executive Advisor at Age UK from July 2019 to September 2025 and Non Executive Director on the Age UK Community Interests Committee. Helen served as Stores Director at Marks and Spencer from May 2020 to September 2023, overseeing UK store operations and leading a large management team. Prior roles include Director of Retail at Sainsbury's Argos, Vice President of Retail Stores and People Operations at Asda, and various management positions at Boots UK Ltd. Helen earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Sunderland between 1985 and 1988.
