Stephen Jarvis

Stephen Jarvis currently serves as President and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Surrey, a position held since September 2025. Previously, Stephen was Provost and Vice-Principal at the University of Birmingham from June 2020 to September 2025, and also held roles as Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Additional experience includes serving as a Visiting Exchange Professor at New York University and various academic leadership positions at the University of Warwick from 1999 to 2020. Stephen's early career includes a role as a Lecturer at the University of Oxford. Stephen's academic qualifications comprise a PhD in Computer Science from Durham University, an MSc in Computation from the University of Oxford, and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of London.
