Jennifer Lawless

Jennifer Lawless is a distinguished political scientist currently serving as the Leone Reaves and George W. Spicer Professor of Politics and Commonwealth Professor of Politics at the University of Virginia since June 2018. Prior to this role, Lawless was a Professor of Government, Director of the Women & Politics Institute, and Associate Professor at American University from August 2009 to August 2018. Lawless began an academic career as an Assistant Professor at Brown University from July 2003 to July 2009. Lawless earned a PhD in Political Science and Government from Stanford University in 2003 and a BA in Political Science and Government from Union College in 1997.
