Sofia Forss is an accomplished evolutionary biologist currently serving as an Editor at Animal Behaviour since January 2025 and as a Research Group Leader at the University of Zurich since 2020. Forss focuses on enhancing the understanding of cognitive processes in animals, specifically investigating social and ecological influences on skill acquisition, curiosity, and behavior in wild mammals, such as mongooses and primates. Previous roles include Junior Research Fellow at Collegium Helveticum, Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Lausanne, and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Tübingen. Forss obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Evolutionary Anthropology and Biology from the University of Zurich, completing the degree in 2016.
