Esa Saukkonen

Esa Saukkonen is an experienced professional in the packaging industry, currently serving as the Manager of Packaging Portfolio Development at UPM - The Biofore Company since September 2020, where responsibilities include enhancing the competitiveness of paper-based packaging solutions and overseeing R&D initiatives. Prior to this role, Esa held positions at Fazer as Manager of Packaging Technology and Senior Specialist in Packaging Development, leading projects in packaging innovation for the confectionery sector. Experience also includes working as a Project Manager at Stora Enso, focusing on microfibrillated and nanofibrillated cellulose applications, and as a Post-doctoral researcher at Lappeenranta University of Technology, where research centered on machine-material interactions and fiber-based material coatings. Esa obtained a Doctor of Science in Technology from LUT University.
