Pirkko Harrela

Pirkko Harrela is the EVP of Stakeholder Relations at UPM. Prior to their current position, they worked as the Communications Manager and Associate Editor for Finnpap from January 1985 to December 1996.

During their time at Finnpap, Harrela was responsible for press relations and internal communications. This period included a number of events that garnered public interest, such as the EU competition investigation and a US anti-dumping case.

Harrela has extensive experience in marketing and sales, which they have leveraged in their current role at UPM. In this role, they are responsible for managing UPM's relationships with key stakeholders.

Pirkko Harrela earned their Master of Arts from the University of Helsinki in languages, communications, and political science. Pirkko then went on to complete the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School in business administration and management.

They work with Tapio Korpeinen - CFO & EVP, UPM Energy, Massimo Reynaudo - EVP, UPM Communication Papers, and Kari Ståhlberg - EVP, Strategy. Their manager is Jussi Pesonen, President & CEO.
