Non-profit education and research body, the Urban Land Institute (ULI), has appointed Jonathan H. Brinsden as its Americas Chairman. Mr. Brinsden succeeds Jack Chandler in the role, and will serve his two year term on a voluntary basis, starting July 1, 2020.
Mr. Brinsden is chief executive officer of real estate investment and development firm Midway, and has a long affiliation with ULI already. He has previously been with ULI as a Global Board Director, Governing Trustee, ULI Foundation Governor and as chair of ULI Houston, where he is based.
"Jonathan has a wealth of experience in both the industry as well as within ULI. He is very passionate about real estate working for everyone in society and is a strong advocate of ULI's mission," said President of ULI Americas, Gwyneth Jones Cote.
ULI aims to provide leadership in responsible land use around the world, helping to encourage sustainable community development. Mr. Brinsden sees tackling issues such as the COVID-19 fallout and diversity as a key part of his role. "Over the next two years, I have particular interest in focusing on how ULI can take a greater leadership role in tackling racial inequity and systematic racism in our industry and communities,” he said. “ULI is committed to working with our members and communities to accomplish impactful and lasting change."
