James Hime

Global Head of Infrastructure at USAA Real Estate

James ("Jim") Hime serves as Global Head of Infrastructure for USAA Real Estate at Attexo Capital, where he leads a team in building a business that offers infrastructure investment advice to clients of the company. Prior to his current role, Jim functioned as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing USAA Real Estate’s asset management, treasury, insurance and dispositions functions. His remit also included responsibility for USAA Real Estate’s Capital Markets group, which sources and structures all debt financing on USAA Real Estate’s portfolio and which also advises USAA’s Life Insurance Company affiliate with respect to its senior mortgage investment program. Jim sits on the firm's Investment Committee. He is also a director on the board for an affiliated company, Investors Diversified Realty, and an Investment Committee member for Square Mile Capital Management.

Jim joined USAA Real Estate from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority ("ADIA"), one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, where he was employed for three years as Chief Financial Officer of the Real Estate and Infrastructure Department. While with ADIA, Jim was responsible for the legal, tax, and liquidity management requirements of the department, including management of ADIA's existing and new debt arrangements.

Before joining ADIA, Jim was with the Lionstone Group, a privately-owned real estate investment firm, where his responsibilities included capital markets and transaction structuring across investment programs. Earlier, Jim served as senior vice president and head of capital markets at Hines Interests, where he developed, structured and marketed a range of funds that financed global real estate development and acquisition efforts. Before joining the real estate sector, Jim spent 20 years at Baker Botts L.L.P, a U.S.-based law firm, where he became a partner and was responsible for opening the firm's New York office.

Jim received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Texas and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Texas, School of Law.
