Luis O. Rodriguez is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in environmental health and public safety, currently serving as the Acting Chief of the Vessel Sanitation Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since November 2010. In this role, Luis O. Rodriguez leads efforts to prevent and control gastrointestinal illnesses on cruise ships. Previously, as an Environmental Health Specialist, Luiz O. Rodriguez employed data-driven strategies to tackle environmental hazards and enhance health services at a national level. Earlier experience includes roles as VSP Assistant Deputy Chief and Environmental Health Officer, where program management and inspections were key responsibilities. Additionally, Luis O. Rodriguez served as a Consumer Safety Officer with the FDA, overseeing both domestic and international inspections before joining the CDC. Educational credentials include a Master's Degree in Environmental Health from the University of Puerto Rico - Medical Sciences Campus and a Bachelor's Degree in Science & Education from the University of Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras Campus.
