Chris Buysen

Chris Buysen is the current Chief Financial Officer & Director at Valens. Chris has held this position since October 2012. Prior to their current role, they served as Acting Chief Financial Officer at Paragon Pharmacy Ltd. from May 2010 to October 2012. Chris was also the Corporate Controller at Afexa Life Sciences from January 2009 to May 2010 and Chief Financial Officer at Liberty Mines Inc. from January 2008 to January 2009.

Before their career in finance, Buysen worked in the family business. Chris then transitioned to Callahan Property Group where they served as Director of Finance from September 2012 to June 2014. Their other finance roles include positions as Corporate Controller at Flint Energy Services Ltd. from March 2006 to September 2007 and Manager at KPMG LLP from December 2003 to March 2006. Chris started their career as a Senior Accountant at Grant Thornton LLP from January 2000 to November 2003.

Chris Buysen has a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) from the University of Alberta. Chris is also a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.

Chris Buysen reports to Gideon Ben-Zvi, Chief Executive Officer. Chris Buysen works with Chantel Popoff - Chief Financial Officer , Everett Knight - EVP of Strategy and Investments, and Jeffrey Fallows - President.
