Jamie Birney has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. They began their career as an Instructor in Set Design at Buck's Rock Performing and Creative Arts Camp in 2007. They then worked as an Assistant Technical Director at Swarthmore College, where they constructed sets, coordinated backstage aspects of production, and built modular components for multiple productions. In 2011, they served as an Office Manager/Intern at Kenyon C. Bolton III & Associates Inc. They later joined Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership in 2013 as a Program Representative. In 2014, they transitioned to the Cambridge Housing Authority, initially working as a Housing Manager's Aide and subsequently as an Assistant Contract Administrator. In 2017, they joined Launch Academy, Inc as an Apprentice Full-Stack Software Developer. Their software development career continued at Valor Performance, Inc., where they held multiple roles including Software Engineer, Lead Engineer, and currently Senior Software Architect.

Then, starting in 2014, Jamie began pursuing a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, a program that is expected to be completed in 2024.
