João Duarte

João Duarte is an experienced soccer coach currently serving as NPP Head Coach and Grassroots Manager at Vancouver Whitecaps FC since August 2021. Alongside coaching various youth teams, including those in the Ontario Player Development League, João oversees the technical management of the grassroots program. Recently, João was the BU15 Head Coach for the BC Summer Games 2024, leading Zone 5 Vancouver/Coastal to a gold medal victory. Previous roles include Head Coach and Assistant Technical Director at União Futebol Clube de Almeirim, Technical Director at Global Premier Soccer, and responsibilities in coach education and talent identification with several clubs, including SCYS and Futebol Clube do Porto. João holds a BSc in Sports Coaching from Escola Superior de Desporto de Rio Maior and is currently pursuing an MSc in the same field.
