Micol Marchetti-Bowick

Micol Marchetti-Bowick has a diverse work experience in the field of AI and machine learning. Micol is currently working as the CTO at velo.ai since 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Aurora from 2021 to 2023, where they held the position of Senior Staff Tech Lead Manager and Head of Strategy Planning. In this role, they led a team responsible for developing core ML models for the Motion Planner and managing data extraction and labeling pipelines.

Before joining Aurora, Micol worked at Uber ATG from 2016 to 2021 as an Autonomy Engineer and Tech Lead Manager. Here, they led the Goal-Based Prediction team and focused on developing ML models for long-term prediction of other actors' behaviors. Micol'scontributions extended to joint Perception-Prediction and Prediction-Planning efforts.

Micol's career began with an internship at Precise MD in 2015, where they gained experience in machine learning. Micol also worked at Microsoft in two separate roles. First as a Program Manager from 2011 to 2012, and later as a Program Manager Intern in 2010. Prior to their corporate experience, they served as a Section Leader at Stanford University in 2009.

Micol Marchetti-Bowick pursued their education, focusing on Computer Science and Machine Learning. Micol began their academic journey at Stanford University in 2006, where they earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2010. After completing their undergraduate studies, they continued their education at Stanford University and obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from 2010 to 2011. Micol's passion for the field led their to further advance their knowledge, and they went on to attend Carnegie Mellon University. There, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Machine Learning, which they completed from 2012 to 2020.
